A Philosophy
Rooted in multi-dimensional work
The Enrootment Method approaches the human being as a complex, interconnected system. Mind, body, emotions, and lived experience are not separate layers to be addressed individually - they continuously influence each other and must be worked with as a whole.
Rather than working only through conversation or insight, we work directly with what is physically present. Patterns in posture, muscle tone, breath, and sensation are not seen as symptoms to remove, but as meaningful expressions of how the human system has adapted over time. When addressed with precision and understanding, they offer a direct pathway into lasting change.
The Enrootment Method brings together psychological understanding, verbal guidance, and hands on bodywork into one coherent approach. It allows practitioners to work simultaneously with mental patterns, emotional processes, and the physical body, instead of moving between them in isolation.
"True healing cannot be reduced to a single perspective. By bridging all elements within Enrootment, we come to a method that meets people across all layers of their experience.”
– Simeon van der Hoeven

Enrootment fundamentally transformed my work as a psychotherapist and our approach at Close to Me, shifting us from a primarily clinical lens to a more holistic, embodied, and eclectic way of working.
What stands out is how grounded the method remains in scientific and biological foundations, making it a powerful complement to psychological work.
Enrootment doesn’t sit at the edges of psychotherapy — it brings you straight to its core.

After nearly 30 years as a practicing body psychotherapist, discovering the Enrootment Method was like a homecoming - reconnecting to the somatic source which inspired me to begin this work in the first place.
It allows me to connect quickly to the deep tissue armor hidden throughout the body that is so often overlooked or misunderstood and inspired me to pursue a stronger somatic direction with the people I work with.
The Enrootment Method is a unique gateway to release the power of the body to heal itself of deep emotional, relational and psychic wounds.
